EXCLUSIVE FEATURE: DOPEBOY Londons freshest new Music Artist

Aaron Denham originally from Nottinghamshire has been performing since he was a young boy, from acting to singing and dancing Aaron has done it all. His first mark of training at Stagecoach indulged in all these creative platforms which got him a main roll on stage at Nottingham Playhouse.
It was not until the age of 16 that Aaron was introduced to commercial dance where he joined dance school ‘Summers in Time’ creating doors to stage performances and competitions around the UK. His level of dancing within competitions grew rapidly and within two years Aaron was a Champion Dancer. The stage performances gave Aaron a chance to perform in many big venues such as Her Majesty’s Theatre where he met Bonnie Langford and also Royal Albert Hall. Dance became more than just dance for Aaron after accomplishing so much in a short time span.

Whilst competing and performing around the UK Aaron also decided to take dance more seriously after finishing school and attended New College Nottingham where he completed his ‘A Levels’ studying Dance, Drama and Photography.
After completing College he broadened his horizons and moved to London and completed a ‘Bachelor of Arts with Second Class (Upper Division) Honours on the 19th June 2014 at University of East London.

University of East London being the only Urban Dance course in the UK broadened Aaron’s Knowledge and history within the underground dance scene. During the three years on the course he trained in many different styles such as Waacking, Vogue, House, Breaking, Contemporary, Bharatanatyam (Indian Dance Form) and also the classical Martha Graham. To get the best of the experience at university he became part of ‘The Dance Society’ a society within the university which put together performances showing a bigger audience what talent is around. After being a part of that for the final two years the society had grew so rapidly it received ‘Gold Award’ and also ‘Best Society of the Year’.

It was the Final year at University of East London when Aaron really found a platform. The undergraduates were asked to create a final dance piece. This was a chance to get a message out and really hit people within physical performance.
Aaron created a part film/part live performance based on his sexuality. The Performance starts with Aaron on a screen trapped in a box (camera frame)
using very static and sharp movements. He Hits every sound with a different movement as the music escalates. It transitions from film to live performance with Aarons Silhouette walking towards the camera in which the music and camera both fade out.
Aaron continues to walk on stage transitioning to a new dance style, House dance. The movement within the piece is loose, free and fun. He ends the performance with a spoken word, creating an emotional atmosphere and coming out as a gay male to the audience where his mum was also situated at the time.

During this process Aaron was also involved in other projects in his class, one of which Aaron really connected with. Hattie Lauren Grover is an aspiring chorographer in London who was part of Aaron’s class. He had the Pleasure of being a part of her final piece which was based around LGBT marriage equality with an all gay cast involved.

Its 2014 and University for Aaron was over after studying for three years he jumped straight into his music as the artist Dopeboy London. It was early 2014 when he wrote his first ever song ‘Find Yourself’. He had a message to deliver and when you listen to the song you certainly feel the real expression. Since then he has been building his music platform and performing around the East London Area at events like ‘Dirty Diana’, ‘Hard Cock Life’, ‘East Bloc’ and also performed on the main stage for Gay Pride 2014.

The biggest leap into his music journey was performing at Heavy London’s Fashion Week after party at Project London in Tottenham court road.

Aaron is now working on his Website, his first EP ‘Sweet Poison’ and creating his first music video ‘BO$$ BOYS’. He is also waiting for some more images from some clothing brands he has been shooting with and creating new music projects for the future!

As for Dopeboy he has currently just finished shooting a documentary about Him as an artist, focusing on sexuality and hip hop. Watch here:
