Introducing Samuel Purnell, Originally from Skipton in the Yorkshire Dales, Sam grew up around the countryside with a wide interest in people, culture and his local environment. Moving on with education he studied at Leeds College of Art before completing his degree, BA(Hons) Fashion Atelier, at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) Rochester, specializing primarily in menswear design and pattern cutting. Over his four years of education, his interests have only grown wider, taking on board; the environment, other cultures, and social responsibilities within his work. All of which have so far really inspired how he designed in his final collection, The Haute Bohéme is no different.
Over the summer he had the privilege of travelling through various areas of South East Asia. He wanted to create a range of garments that could transform themselves to suit a number of environments and social situations; from mountain tops, white beaches, local celebrations and uncomfortable journeys. The collection should be something the traveler can take with him, taking into consideration; respectfully dressed and practicality for both travelling and the local environment. All of this with a bohemian edge to stay in tune with current backpacker style.
