JuunJ - Fashion is Art

This post is to celebrate the art of fashion.
Many people don't believe fashion is art and they beleive fashion is fashion and nothing else.

What goes into a garment. The time, the effort, the imagination is astonishing.
Im going to show you an example of the work of JuunJ my favourite designer at the minute.
Korean-born Juun J's education was at the ESMOD (Ecole Superieure des Arts et technique de la Mode) school in Seoul (1992) before becoming a designer for the menswear label 'Chiffons'.
He also created his a label called 'LoneCostume' in 1992.
The JuunJ label was launched back in 2007, based in Seoul. The collections are shown in Paris. Juun is known for examining the fine classic elements of menswear and tailoring, he does thisby deconstructing  then reconstructing them back.

For one of his Fall collections in 2012, he released a selection of neoprene (my favourite fabric!) sweaters with robotic portraits. This caused a huge hit on the fashion wold and create an almost immediate cult like status.
The portraits had a possesed outerworkd feel and ambience from them.
The exotic surrounded female characters had unrealistic settings of something of another world.
The detailing was of disused RedBull cans to detached zippers, from hand warmers to old toys.

To me this imagery reminds of the Film:
A.I:Artificial Intelligence starring Jude Law, directed by Steven Speilberg ( a must watch!)

The imagery illuses your eyes as to wether its photography or CGI.
In actual fact it's photography!
The now famous prints come from the astounding  swiss duo photographers Alex Gertschen & Felix Meier. These two are better known as just 'Alex & Felix' dubbed the 13 Queens.

The photographs are created using Staged techniques and is produced almost entirely without the use of any digital alteration at all.

Combing Photography to fashion is like taking the painting off your walls and putting them on the clothing you wear everyday. Calling everything you make, design, stitch, sew and create a piece because it is Art.

Here is the final Pieces:
